Developers, Epic Games, has released a new survival based game called Fortnite. The game is set to be released worldwide for next gen consoles and PC. The game is overrun with zombies that have taken over 98 percent of the world. These monsters didn’t come from the ground though, they were made by a mysterious storm. This dangerous storm can use its powers to make a tornado’s and use them as portal of the underworld.

Players must collect certain pieces of equipment to make forts, traps, and weapons to stay alive, along with rescuing survivors from the armies of the undead. All the resources can be found anywhere as players go around completing quests and saving any survivors. You must know how to build quick if you’re in a bad situation. Weapons aren’t just given to you, everything is spread out across the map in chest or in abandoned buildings.

The game Fortnite can be bought so you’re able to play co-op with other individuals or friends in the story missions. Battle Royal is a part of Fortnite but it is free to download for everyone to play. The growth of the game has developers of a popular pc game Playerunknown’s BattleGrounds (PUBG)  concerned. They believe that the new game will become the next top trend for the gamers.

Both games share a little bit of similarities with each other. They both play up to 100 players, and you can customize your player model. Playerunknown’s BattleGrounds gives you coins if you win or lose the game, it could either be a lot or very little depending on how much of the work you do.

Fortnite, however, does not give you coins but experience (XP) so you level up and earn rewards such as gliders, clothing, or different weapon skins. Players can purchase V-tech coins to buy any customizations from the in-game store of their choosing. PUBG lets you pick anything you want as long as if you have enough coins to afford anything.

Austin Akers, PVHS junior, said “The game is really fun to play but some of the new feature require you to pay for things with actual money which some people may not even have. I do believe that more people will play Fortnite but may come with a slight lost of players if the developers make any mistakes with the future updates.”

Personally, I think the game is really addicting and a great way to pass time. You always have to be focused and alerted to play the game if you’re playing solo. You are basically get an adrenaline rush when your health starts to hit one percent and you have no health packs to survive that last assassin’s sniper shot. If this game were to have a game series, I would expect it to have a better story. In the end it‘s a horde of zombies standing against you or a hundred people.
