Pahrump Valley High School was under lockdown on Monday, March 11th, 2024, due to a student disturbance. This lockdown was caused by a fight breaking out and a firearm being mentioned. The lockdown started at approximately 12:09 am and lasted until 1:42 pm. NCSD announced that all students were safe and people should avoid the area, which led to the streets being closed down due to parents attempting to go to the school.

During the lockdown, there were searches on all male students in the gym class and some students were being pulled out of other classes to be searched. In the second building not much happened as students and faculty were stuck waiting in their classes awaiting more information or the lockdown to be lifted. The gym is where the fight took place but no injuries have been reported just yet. There was an intense police presence outside the school with countless police and SWAT members. The sheriff’s office had said during the lockdown “Please stay clear of the area, we will update shortly.” which has also been posted on the website X at 12:30. During and after the lockdown there were many rumors that students had claimed but none would provide reliable proof, one of which claimed a student was stabbed but it was not proven.

After the lockdown was lifted students who had not eaten lunch yet were allowed to do so and others were provided a five-minute break to use the restroom and then return to their fifth-hour class for the remainder of the day. With all this hearsay going around about this situation we suggest that you wait for an official report on what happened and for more information to be released about the situation to avoid confusion and misinformation from being spread around.Graduation set for Pahrump Valley High School

    This lock-down, though harmless, caused disarray throughout the kids in the fifth period p.e. class. As someone who was in the class, I witnessed first hand the breakdowns people had learning that the lock-down was not a drill. While the girls room was quite peaceful besides the one girl having a panic attack, the boys locker room was an incredibly different story; “during the lock-down, there were searches on all male students in the gym class”. From a peer experience in the class (who will remain anonymous) he said that the guys locker room was strict. Nobody was allowed to talk or move. That he was taken out into the main gym with a few others to be searched where the had to drop their bags and stand against the wall. The guys were treated quite differently due to the seriousness of the situation, the two hours seemed unbearable for the males in that class. {This was for extra credit in my English class}
