Pahrump Valley High School has many sports, including soccer. The PVHS Girls’ Varsity Soccer team has dominated the 24-25 season. Even though they did not make it to state this year like they did last year, they did make it to the playoffs and ended their season with an 8-2-4 record and placed 3rd in the league.
Senior Shaelee Boucher is one of the many exceptional players on this team. She shares that her experience has paid off and brought her an accomplishment as she mentioned: “I have one State title.” Boucher has tried her best in school as well as soccer. She has had good grades and gets her work done when it comes to schoolwork and sports.
Although the girls got off to a rough start, the team has developed a good relationship and they all have a good connection. Boucher states, “Yes, Our chemistry definitely had to grow this season, but it was good”. They have all been playing together for years, some of them even growing up together and being on the same team as children. This is very beneficial as it helps the girls have strong communication skills on the field. Since they’ve been playing as a team for a long time, they know how to work together well, on and off the field.
The varsity girls know how to stay calm and not fight with the other team, and they know the consequences if they do. If any of the girls were to fight with others, they would get in trouble and receive a red card, resulting in them not being able to play for two games. When Boucher was asked if she or anyone else on her team had ever fought, she replied, “Not with any of our players, but definitely with our other schools that we played”.
Sophomore Natalie Soto, a player on the team, has been on varsity since she began playing for PVHS last year. She has passion and dedication to the sport and states, “I’ve been playing soccer for 12 years”. Soto has multiple cherishable memories about the sport: “My best memory when it comes to soccer is winning State. It was even better because I was a freshman at the time so that was amazing and the experience was better and a lot of people aren’t able to experience that as a freshmen”.
The varsity team grew attached to one another and the girls have formed great relationships with each other. Many have been playing club soccer all together for a long time, resulting in them being as close as they are now. Because of this the varsity team knows each other’s playing style and knows how to play with each other and that’s a good thing. The PVHS Girls’ Varsity Soccer team has done very well this year and they have all come a long way. Make sure to come on out and support them at games in the 25-26 season!
