Pahrump Valley High School’s Freshman Volleyball Team is working hard at starting things out the right way. These players work hard to develop their skills, learn to work as a team, and are making their school proud. This team is led by Coach Kaylee Hargis who gives 100% to teach and support her players.
Volleyball is a really fun and intriguing sport. There are many schools with volleyball teams, but I’ve interviewed two members of the 12 girls on the PVHS Freshman Volleyball Team as well as the coach to get more information about the team. This volleyball team travels and has won many home and away games.
The freshman in the team I interviewed were Aurora Bowers and Cloe Cable. They both played volleyball in middle school and are excited to play at the high school level. They’re coached by Kaylee Hargis who is a super fun and supportive with good skills and techniques.
The first person I interviewed was Cable. She told me about the team and how they work together. The team has normal practices and works together very well. Cable explains, “At first it was a little rough getting to know everyone”. Showing things can be difficult and there are struggles, especially at a new school with a new coach and team. She also gives some advice saying, “If you mess up a play you really just gotta put it in the back of your mind or it’ll mess up everything”, speaking through her own experiences. Cable likes traveling and finds it fun to do from the bus rides to playing an actual game.
The PVHS freshman volleyball team knows how to have fun and have good sportsmanship. For practices, they do conditioning and go straight into plays or just practice their skills. The coach would even do individual one on one practices if the players needed it. Also having timed rotations in conditioning, passing, setting for setters, and headers, like an organized routine.
The next person I interviewed was Bowers. She says she loves her team, coach, and the way they work together. She also enjoys her position as an outside hitter where she is able to hit and block at the net. Unlike Cable, Bowers isn’t a huge fan of traveling saying, “I don’t like riding the bus or going to other schools” because of her anxiety. If she would give advice for someone starting, she told me that skills are learned and not to worry about “not being cut out for it”.
This freshman volleyball team is very supportive and works well together as a team. They’re also respectable and they practice hard and earn their wins fairly. You should go get to know them and the team and support them through their next games!
