After school hours at Pahrump Valley High School is when the Video Game Club begins. The Video Game Club is a club for friends to hang out and play games. It. is a safe environment for the members to hang out with one another “I figure it would be a good place for them to have space to be able to play safely with each other in a controlled environment in school”, advisor Joshua Bender stated. Members seem to enjoy this club and have fun when hanging out with friends. PVHS sophomore Hayden Donaldson states, “playing games and talking to friends” when the school day ends is a fun thing to do. Members of this club will go to the room Mr. Bender’s room, room 219, from there members will sign in and then they set up the consoles and games during this time.
Video games are not the only thing to do; games like chess are an option for members who don’t want to play video games or those who want to do something different. Members of this club seem to get along with one another and the advisors Daniel Jackson and Joshua Bender.
Mr. Bender had taken the club over from the previous who did not know a lot about video games but wanted to continue the club after the former advisor left the school. Mr. Bender was happy to take over making it a safe place for members who have been in the club and new members to hang out, play, and talk with friends. Mr. Bender, who has a love for games, was ultimately a good person to take over the club as he has more of a care and love for games: “I love the Assassin’s Creed series also the Spider-Man games on the PlayStation are just a classic”.
The Video Game Club welcomes any new members who would want to join them. The Video Game Club will sometimes have events like video game tournaments and will compete for various prizes as stated by freshman member Griffin Marley. Tournaments are just one of the many activities that are offered in the Video Game Club. The game genre you can find at the Video Game Club are fighting and racing games
Something one of the club members thinks the club can work on is having more controllers for members to use according to Marley. But it seems that there are not a lot of complaints about the Video Game Club; most members seem to have fun and enjoy the club. There looks to not have a lot of problems with most members getting along and just having some fun.
In summary the PVHS video Game Club meets in room (219) where the focus is on providing a safe place for members and friends alike to gather to enjoy time together after school once a week. If you have free time after school why not stop by the Video Game Club.
