It’s a very cold night in Buffalo, NY. The Buffalo Bills are at home playing against the Baltimore Ravens. The winner goes on to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, AKA, the game that decides who goes to the Super Bowl to represent the AFC. The Ravens got the ball first to begin the game, starting hot with Quarterback Lamar Jackson throwing a touchdown to Wide Receiver Rashod Bateman. Quickly, the Ravens led 7-0 in the first quarter. The Bills quickly answered back with a rushing touchdown by Bills rookie HalfBack Ray Davis, the game becoming tied up at 7-7. When the Ravens got the ball back Lamar Jackson made a terrible decision. Lamar Jackson threw the ball deep to Rashod Bateman but overthrew him. As a result, Bills Safety Tyler Rapp came up with an interception.
The rest of the 1st Quarter had no scoring and the 2nd quarter was introduced quickly. After getting the interception, the Bills were stopped by the Baltimore Ravens defense and forced to punt the ball away. Soon after Baltimore got the ball, tragedy struck. The center snapped the ball too high, Lamar Jackson jumped for the ball and bobbled it. Before Jackson realized, Bills Safety Damar Hamlin was right in front of Jackson. Lamar tried to juke him and get past him but it didn’t work. Hamlin grabbed Lamar’s leg and the ball slipped out of his hands. Veteran linebacker for the Bills, Von Miller, then picked up the ball and ran it down to around the 25-yard line. This tragedy led to a touchdown by the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen, the Quarterback for the Bills, ran the ball in for a touchdown making the score 7-14. When the Ravens got the ball back Lamar Jackson took a deep shot to Rashod Bateman and they made the connection this time, Bateman was taken down around the 2-yard line. The Ravens could not capitalize on this drive and ended up with a field goal by kicker Justin Tucker to make the score 10-14. When the Bills were driving down the field, Josh Allen threw the ball up to rookie Wide Receiver Keon Coleman. The ball was incomplete and a very controversial flag was thrown. Pass interference was called on Ravens Cornerback Tre’davious White. This set up the Bills for a rushing touchdown with Quarterback Josh Allen. This led to halftime where the Bills led over the Ravens 10-21.
The Bills got the ball at halftime but were forced to a 3 and out. The Ravens went down the field and kicked a field goal to make the score 13-21. The Ravens forced the Bills to punt again with the Ravens getting a huge sack on 3rd down. The Ravens once again drove down the field and scored a touchdown with Running back Derrick Henry. The score was now 19-21 with the Ravens trying to tie the game up at 21 with a 2-point conversion. The conversion failed and the score stayed at 19-21. The Bills had a good drive and ended up kicking a field goal after getting into the 4th quarter, scoring 19-24. The Ravens got the ball back after the field goal. The Ravens were driving down the field when tragedy struck, Lamar Jackson passed to his Tight End Mark Andrews, hit a juke move, and ended up fumbling the ball. This gives the Bills the ball with 8 minutes left and time to run the clock out and win the game. The Bills drove down to the 2-yard line but got stopped on 3rd down. This resulted in a field goal to make the lead 19-27 with 3:29 left to go on the clock.
The Ravens must go down the field, get a touchdown, and a 2-point conversion to try and tie the game. The Ravens eventually get down to around the 25-yard line in Bills territory, Jackson steps back to pass, he has all day in the pocket with no pressure, and he fires! Tight End Isiah Likely catches the pass for a touchdown with 1:33 left in the game. The team is excited but quickly calms down when they realize they need the 2-point conversion to tie the game. The Ravens lineup for the 2-point conversion, Jackson, takes the snap, runs right, he’s got Mark Andrews wide open! He drops it. With the final score being 25-27, the game is over, and the Bills advance to the AFC Championship.
