The Pahrump Library has been a staple for the community of Pahrump and has been used daily for various reasons over the past two and a half decades. However, in those 24 years, the building has taken its fair share of bruises to go with the decline of the building due to age and now needs renovations. These are to be put into effect until Spring this year. Most of the work that will be done will focus on the inner areas walls and doors. Most of the work to fix any holes, adding in new shelves for books, and adding new carpets and paint are all important parts that will make the library in much better condition. The people and workers are very excited and have been ready for renovations for a long time. There are high hopes of this being a very successful change and to help the library continue to be an important place in the Pahrump community.
However, the prices for these renovations aren’t anything close to slim. Just for the paint alone, the estimated cost is ranging from $57,500 to a whopping $96,320. This is also coming along with plumbing, ($12,070) Moving, ($17,850), and flooring (No estimate yet). In total, the estimated cost for the whole renovation is anywhere from $87,420 to $183,740. Once these contracts are established they will have to shut down the library for months until finished which is supposed to be during spring of this year. Once the contractors finish, the workers will be able to re-open the doors to the community and everyone who is interested in visiting the library. Even with the substantial price tags, people are still determined to get this work finished and make the library better than ever.
Additionally, just because the library will be closed doesn’t mean that they can’t supply reading supplies. The Library will be offering digital books through Kindle as well as audiobooks on multiple apps. Also, Patrons are able to start learning new languages through Rosetta Stone on their website. If you have library fines during the time of the renovations, they will be waived off but you are still able to drop books off in the meantime. The library will do all it can to be available while it’s undergoing these operations. Many people also offer to help with others’ reading needs during the library’s temporary closing. People are committed to keeping the ability to continue reading during the renovations.
All in all, the great Pahrump Library is ecstatic for the renovations as well as the community is ready to see the library in its soon-to-be new and improved condition. The new paint, carpet, flooring, and the fixing of walls and plumbing are exciting news for many people who are avid users of the library and visit it almost daily. The renovations have started and will take place until the spring of 2025 so once the renovations are finished, make sure to check out the library in its upgraded form!
