Prom is a dance we all know and love and has been going on for many years. This year in 2025 prom will be held on May 3rd at Nevada Treasure RV Resort. The theme is not what we expected and is Meet at Midnight. This theme is a dark and starry night and even though I’ve heard mixed feelings on the theme, it’s sure to be great!

Keir Shepherd, a junior here at Pahrump Valley High School, knew nothing about the prom theme this year but after I told him about the dark and starry night theme he was worried about what props and decorations were going to be used. Shepherd also stated he was worried that the theme would be boring. I then asked what theme Shepherd thought would be a perfect fit for prom this year and he said he would like an 80s old-time theme. There were no specific reasons as to this theme but there would be lots of decoration ideas and props. As to everyone being excited, Shepherd stated everyone should be excited because for the seniors you only live this moment one more time, and for juniors enjoy it while it lasts.

I also interviewed a senior here at Pahrump Valley High School who had lots of opinions of Prom due to him being a part of the student council. James Dela Rosa States that the Meet Me at Midnight theme is a weird theme to go off of due to not knowing what it entails and how to dress up for it. He also stated it worries him about it being his senior prom due to seeing everything backstage but he also states has high hopes that the student council can pull it off due to him seeing all the behind-the-scenes and he’s just “crossing his fingers and hoping for the best”. Dela Rosa talks about the possible better themes for prom but he states that it would be hard to think of one due to everyone not liking the same thing or getting people’s likes on one theme.

I have also interviewed another senior student council member Angelina Valdez. Her opinions on prom are very strong. She thinks it’s a very unique theme rather than the last themes that Pahrump Valley High School has had. She loves this more dark feeling theme rather than the greeny bright themes we’ve had which is an amazing look from the student council. She also stated this was a better theme rather than under the sea which I also agreed to. The seniors asked another question of whether they would love this prom or not but Valdez stated everyone had a bad opinion at first she also thinks the seniors should focus more on the experience of the last prom but she does state that it being dark everyone can play with the darker color rather the bright colors. Lastly, Valdez’s reasoning for being excited for this year’s prom, especially for seniors, is it’s the seniors’ last prom and it should be enjoyed and there’s going to be a whole lot more in store as we get closer to prom.
