New upcoming music artist, Shane Boose, also known as Sombr, is making the charts on Spotify. A New Yorker, born and raised, skating around the streets of New York, eventually made his way to LA to begin his music career.

Sombr’s love for music began from a young age, as his dad would play in bands so there were always instruments around him. His dad would always have different bands playing such as Raidohead, Nash, Stills, and Crosby. By the time Sombr was in his early teens, he had begun musical theater and did that for a while. Sombr started attending LaGuardia High School, an art school in New York. During his time there he got a classical training background in singing. They would often sing Italian arias and even in German. “It was very helpful for me. So, when I had all my knowledge, I figured it was the right time to create Sombr” he stated in an interview with Maia Bebber at 1883 Magazine. While Sombr was starting his music career during his sophomore year of high school, he began to study the social media algorithm that would later help him boost his music.

Within a few years, Sombr would make hit songs. Using social media to his advantage, his song “Caroline” has over 30 million streams on Spotify after a video he made about the song went viral. But that wasn’t his only hit song; he has others such as “weak,” “back to friends,” “would’ve been you,” and. “do i ever cross your mind.” Sombr’s music has been described to capture moments that are burned into memory with the exploration of the emotions that come when you are in love. Sombr’s soft, yet powerful lyrics have touched millions. Sombr’s most recent song “back to friends” was released on December 27, 2024, and already has over 14 million streams currently on Spotify.
