The robotics club at Pahrump Valley High School has partnered with 4h to work more on their robots. The program, 4-H, is used to develop and engage youth programs to their full potential. The program with 4h and the robotics club is called Awkward Silence. The robotics club, run by Carlos Mcdonold, meets twice a week with 4h to work on their robots and engineering. As the robotics club works on its robots, the FIRST Tech Challenge helps mentor them when building. The robotics club has been learning to introduce math, science, and technology into their building.
The robotics club doesn’t have many members, although they are very welcoming to new members. With a small team, it is very hard to make the robots quickly and efficiently. The help from 4-H can also inspire others to join the robotics club. Not every member is at the same level, so the robotics club being in 4-H is very helpful for those who want to learn more about building the robots. Everyone is advancing at their own rates, and with 4-H helping, many will advance their robotics skills. When the robotics club joins competitions, the help from the 4-H program will be very useful for winning. The robotics club is very serious about their building of robots. Over the past years, kids have joined the club, but to only mess around with friends and not work on any of the robots. The robotics team competes with other schools in robotic competitions, but that goal can not be completed unless they have focused kids ready to build robots. With the help from 4-H, there is hope more students will join the club and be interested in building robots. Overall, 4-H is a great help to the robotics club. This help from 4-H is likely to achieve many goals for the future. |
