The Kaucky Tool Co. is a local business owned and operated by Brent Kaucky. Kaucky has owned his business for 9.5 years and will be celebrating 10 years of business in September 2025. He bought the business on September 28th, 2015 on a whim, but this business isn’t located in a store nor does it make its own tools. It is a box truck with shelves stocked up to the ceiling, full of different tools and different brands such as: Milwaukee, Gearwrench, and many more!
Kaucky didn’t buy his business until he was in his late 30s. Before buying his business, Kaucky was working as a mechanic at Pete’s Auto Shop when the prior owner, Max Shipler, offered Kaucky the business. “He [Max] picked me because when he would come to the shop, I would tell him ‘I’ll be on your truck as soon as I’m done doing what I’m doing.’ He knew that I put work first and didn’t just stop in the middle of something,” states Kaucky. Originally, Kaucky declined the offer but his wife and his father convinced him to buy the business.
Though Kaucky owns and operates his business he can’t do it alone. He has a singular employee, his daughter, Quinn Kaucky. As well as working with his daughter, his business accountant is a big help along with his ISN account manager Willy, who is a second-generation ISN employee of 28 years and has been Kaucky’s sales representative since the day Kaucky bought the business.
Kaucky and Willy enjoy each other’s company and they both thoroughly enjoy working with each other because they make each other’s jobs easier. “Working with Brent is wonderful, he’s fun to work with and he knows what he’s doing so it makes my job really easy,” says Willy. Along with Kaucky making Willy’s job easier, Willy does the same for Kaucky. “I’ll tell Willy ‘I wanna do a sale next week. What can you get me?’ and he’ll say ‘Well, let me see..’ and I’ll hear him typing,” states Kaucky. Although they talk almost everyday on the phone, they only get to hangout one day a year, which is at the tool convention in Orlando. “The times we get to spend at the tool show always stand out. We always have a good time and we get to hangout and not talk business all the time.” says Willy.
Though most of the time Kaucky has no problems, there have been a few bumps in the road. Kaucky has been in 2 major car crashes since buying the business. Both of them spanning almost exactly 4 years apart. The first one happened on April 20th, 2020, when a speeding pick up truck T-boned a work truck. Kaucky saw the crash and he stepped on the brake because he knew they were going to hit him and that crash ended up totaling the original truck that he bought with the business. Then on April 24, 2024, Kaucky was driving out of Las Vegas when he got to a stop light, and when the light turned green, he began to pull out before getting run into by a speeding car which knocked the exhaust off the truck. At that time, it seemed like everyone Kaucky knew was in Vegas, so when multiple of his prior gym members had seen his truck and saw Kaucky sitting on the sidewalk, they all came to check on him, which shows how tight-knit he was with his community.
On top of the Kaucky Tool Co., Kaucky has been part of other businesses such as Evolution Strength and Fitness Home of Pahrump Crossfit and helps with his wife’s business, The Knot Spot. The Kaucky Tool Co does a lot around the Pahrump community, such as supporting fundraisers, donating money to sports teams, sponsoring gym memberships for people, buying families Thanksgiving dinners around the holidays, and donating Christmas presents to families in need as well as donating to the Valley Electric charitable foundation. Kaucky makes a living in Pahrump, and he also gives back to the community. Going from a mechanic to a business owner has opened a lot of doors for Kaucky and now the Kaucky Tool Co. is a strong ongoing business that helps open doors for people in the community.
