During the game against the Mustangs, it was a nail-biter. The game started with Senior Kayla Glenn on the mound, who pitched for 3 innings before a pitching change occurred, and Evalenne Armendariz was put on the mound. Even with Glenn getting pulled from pitcher she still played an amazing game. Armendariz’s pitching throughout the game was phenomenal.
While the pitchers were doing amazing their catcher Madison Rodriguez was unstoppable behind the plate. Rodriguez has shown she is an excellent catcher throughout all of the games she has played, making little to no errors. While the pitchers and catcher were doing an amazing job their defense was also there ready to receive. While the defense struggled at certain times, they also exceeded. While the infield and outfield had their struggles, which ultimately resulted in their loss against the Mustang, their hitting was unstoppable. All of the work they have put in with batting has paid off, for there were a total of 7 home runs during the game. Players who got those home runs were Armendariz, Sunday Colon with two home runs, Autumn Colon, Danika Cox, and Riley Saldana with two home runs. For Armendariz, this is her second home run, and this is Saldana’s third. While these ladies all hit home runs, throughout the game the rest of the team still continued to get on base during almost every at-bat. The girls battled throughout the game, for every defensive mistake they made they came back with an amazing offensive play. While the game unfortunately ended with a loss, the final score being 21-25, they still played an offensive game. Needles is a tough competitor for the Trojans, but they did not let that stop them from trying their hardest. The season has only begun so be sure to go support your Lady Trojans at their next home game. |
