This club is run by Mr. Abbis and they meet on Mondays during both lunches to talk about what they’re doing. They also do many different things for their community, but not just that if you join the key club as a senior and you need more hours for whatever reason you weren’t at school enough you could go do the stuff they do to get those hours you need to graduate school.
Andrea Payan-Pinon had mentioned that she joined the club since she wanted to help out the community and also enjoys helping out people, Payan-Pinon also mentioned that her mom works to help the community and has inspired her to do so. She had also helped to work with the Salvashan Army food bank because she stated that “My mom is the director of the Salvashan Army food bank so I go and help her with things there. So my mom really inspired me to help out the community.” Payan-Pinon mentioned that they don’t just do things like the bell ringing during key club but they also do public speaking and go around getting to know people while helping out the community. Payan-Pinon also mentioned that their main goal in the key club is to just help out everyone and in general help out the community as a whole.
Another person that has joined the key club is Joseph McDonald. He had mentioned that he really enjoys the club and it’s a fun club to be in. McDonald mentioned the same things that Payan-Pinon did and that the club focuses on helping out the community as a whole so everyone could all get along. He also mentioned “it’s a good club to be in if you like helping out the community or need hours in order to graduate.” McDonald stated that he joined the key club because he enjoys helping out the community just like Payan-Pinon to make people happy and everyone feel included.
The teacher in charge of this club is Mr. Abbis, and he had mentioned that likes being in charge of this club to see how the people part of the club help the community or just work together to find things to help the community with. Abbis also included that in the club they work with the community in different ways including going in front of Walmart or Smith’s to ring bells to raise money along with selling water and or food at the home games Pahrump Valley high school does. They also sell tickets for the home games we have as well. Abbis exclaimed that “If seniors come to me saying they need hours they could go to the club meetings during lunch and do the things we do to boost their hours to graduate.”
Key club might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it sure does help more than people might think and it goes all the way from a simple club in elementary school to college then even going to food drives or shelters for the community. If you’re highly interested in helping out your community or again just needing more hours to finally graduate, go check out the key club that meets every Monday during both lunches in room 14 to discuss what you could do in that club.
