Helen Helps Pessimist
Help Me Helen!
November 20, 2017
Dear Helpful Helen,
Why is this school sucky? Are you Helen Vann?
Dear Pessimist,
Unfortunately, I am not Helen Vann, although I wish I was. High school has always had different impacts on everyone, but school is not always “sucky.” Perhaps changing your attitude to a more optimistic tone could help. There are many positive and extrovertive things, such as clubs you can join to find new friends (Cactus Club seems a blast), or sports to improve your athletic life. Remember to try new electives, such as journalism or ceramics. High school is only four years long. You can make it! Sincerely,
Helpful Helen 🙂

I agree with Helpful Helen that no matter how bad school is its only a fraction of your life and its important so “you can make it”. And while your here might as well make the best of it, look at the cup as half full, not empty. don’t focus on the cardboard pizza think about the kind of OK orange chicken. All in all i think this article helps kids look at school more as an opportunity and responsibility than a burden.

I like this response because it puts a positive spin on a comment that is negative and promotes social activities like, “clubs you can join to find new friends,” which is great advice for teenagers who feel like they don’t belong.
