Leonel Castillo and Richard Dominguez hosted their second private mudding event on September 9th, in Amargosa Valley, Nevada. The event took place at 2520 Cook Rd. . The minimum entry donation accepted was $10 and a waiver release form had to be signed before entering the mud pit.

This event’s purpose was was to bring people from neighboring towns and cities to have fun with something that the community hardly ever experiences. This targeted teens and youth because Amargosa Valley and Pahrump really doesn’t have much for them to do.

If the participants did not have a vehicle, they also had mud relay races, and tug-a-war.

If they didn’t have the proper vehicle to drive through the mud pit, there was a sandy loose dirt mound that they could crawl up.

The kids that attended the event , playing in the mud.

Family and close friends of the Castillo’s and Domingueze’s helped to promote this event so that they can host a mudding event a third time. Family helped to set up, concession and helped with vehicle towing in and out the mud pit.

Castillo and Dominguez said, “ Our first private event was a success! We did it the first time to test the waters to see if it was something we would want to do again. We did this event because we wanted the community to have something fun to do.”

Janneth Castillo, one of the hosts daughters who participated in the Mud Pit said, “I had a fantastic time at the mud pit. I can’t wait to see if there will be another one coming up soon. But I would advise they people attending to bring a spare change of clothes because you get pretty muddy.” When the vehicles are driving through the mud, the people around the pit might get splashed with mud.

Some students from PVHS attended this event. They enjoyed driving to Amargosa to play in the mud. Besides, they also enjoyed going fast throughout the mud pit. Senior Ivan Osorio said, “ My favorite part was eating great food and getting close friends and family together in a positive way. I will attend the next one!”

He also said  “I recommend more things for the little kids to do; they risk getting injured running around in the mud with cars flying by, or maybe even more mud pit holes so one could be where the little kids can play and not risk anything. I think instead of making it a private event it should be for the community, it’s lots of fun!”

Senior Anthony Charles said, “My favorite part was getting to participate and see others participate in the event as a whole and eat great food. If i can, I will attend the next event! The event should be in Pahrump and for the community since more people participated the first Mud Pit. I think they should try and make it for the whole community in Pahrump, it was a blast!”

Thank you Mr. Castillo and Mr. Dominguez for bringing muddy entertainment to our community. This can influence many others to make some interesting events or bring some of the entertainment from Las Vegas to Pahrump and Amargosa.
