On January 24 the Varsity Boys basketball team had their senior night against Bonanza. The seniors are manager Angelina Valdez, #3 Eric Figueroa Renteria, #4 Cartier Jenkins, #12 Antwahn Jackson, #13 Tramaine Burras, and #20 Nash Barnes. With this being the boys’ last home game, they played their hearts out and tried to make their last game a great one.
The first half started with a struggle with many attempts at shots but most of them ended with a miss. The boys struggled to guard number 3 on Bonanza but throughout the game, Jenkins continued to have excellent footwork and many good blocks against number 3 on Bonanza. Jenkins played a crucial role during the game for without him the other team would have made a lot more shots than they already did.
Some other star players of the game who played a crucial role were Tramaine Burras and Jack Toth. Burras continued to score points and block the other team while Toth made many 3-pointers throughout the game and scored a majority of points for the Trojans.
As the second half began the team rallied together and kept the game close, continuing to get points and blocking the other team from scoring. By the fourth quarter, the Trojans were only down by 11, but it seemed as for every point the Trojans made the other team made a point as well. As the team struggled to get ahead they continued to push and keep trying to make shots. Even when the Trojans were losing they continued to push through and try their hardest to win.
With the game ending 49-62, the seniors still gave their all and kept a great attitude even through the ups and downs. With the season coming to an end, be sure to go and support your boys’ basketball team next season.
