During the Girls Varsity basketball game, the team worked together and gave their all on the court. Throughout the game they kept the score close, never letting the Eagles get too far ahead of them. While many players stood out there was one who stood out the most.
That player was sophomore Riley Saldana, the star player of the game scoring almost a third of the team’s points. During the game, she continued to score layup after layup. When Saldana wasn’t scoring layups she was making many free throws. Saldana was not only standing out offensively but defensively as well. She blocked many points against her competitors and stole the ball many times, which played a factor in the final score of the game.
The starting lineup for the game was Saldana, Jules Ondrisko, Savannah Thompson, Trinity French, and Ryliegh Denton, all an excellent choice to start off the game. Throughout the game Evalenne Armendariz was also subbed in quite often, scoring layups and making passes. Without Ondrisko, Thompson, French, Denton, and Armendariz there would have been little to no passes to Saldana. Many of them assisted her with their passes giving her the opportunity to score.
Players like Ondrisko, Thompson, French, and Denton also played a crucial role by taking the ball up the court and scoring passes of their own.. Ondrisko and French had great communication with how they played, and how successful their passes were to each other.
The game ended with a loss 35-36, but even with a loss, these ladies made sure to give this game their all and not fall far behind. They continue to practice and work on mistakes to make them better in the future.
