The Civil Air Patrol or CAP for short is an organization built on serving others. The CAP is a public service organization and has three major programs: Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, and Cadet Programs.
The aerospace program focuses on teaching members about aerospace engineering and aviation; children and adults alike can participate in the fun activities they provide.
The emergency service program provides a multitude of educational opportunities to teach members about these emergencies and how to handle them. Members receive training and participate in activities such as search and rescue, survival, basic first aid, and more.
In addition to aerospace and emergency services, the cadet program teaches leadership and character development. Cadets benefit from working with one another in various activities like physical fitness, color guard, drill, and much more. Additionally, CAP builds character through focusing on their core values: integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect.
These programs help millions of people every day with a wide array of options and fields one can join with the knowledge these programs provide people can get jobs and help others.
If you are between the ages of 12 and 20 and interested in joining as a cadet or an adult, 18+, and are interested in finding out how you can support cadets, stop by their Open House this Saturday. I will be held in the Pahrump Valley High School’s cafeteria from 10:00 AM to 12:oo PM.
