Megan Moroney’s latest album, “Cloud 9,” came out February 20, 2026. This album seemed to be inspired by heartbreak and missing the love you once had for a person, but also healing from that heartache and finding someone new.
On February 20, 2026, a 15-track album was released that made a large impact on modern country music. The album very quickly reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making this Moroney’s first chart-topping record. Her album contains standout songs like “6 Months Later,” topping the charts. The song “Beautiful Things” charted as well, with both of the songs reflecting themes of heartbreak and self-awareness. The album could be considered a defining moment in her career, showing her growth as an artist. The album has its mix of heartfelt, emotional, and heartbreaking songs. She had some of her first collaborations on “Cloud 9” as well, including her songs “I Only Miss You” with Ed Sheeran and “Bells and Whistles” with fellow country artist Kacey Musgraves.
The album “Cloud 9” has been a fan-favorite and very popular, including being Raylee Smith’s favorite Megan Moroney album. Smith’s first thought when listening to the album was, “This was literally the best album ever!” According to Smith, she had never heard anything like this album before besides Megan Moroney’s two other albums. Smith was very passionate about her feelings and opinions on Miss Moroney’s music. “To me, Megan Moroney has always had a way with her words and lyrics throughout her career, and I can hear that especially in this album. I can tell she took her time to carefully make sure that every song would get you in your feels. She understands me in a way a music artist never has before.”
This album, though popular and a fan-favorite, is a great album to use when wanting to get into new music. For Jacob Tom, this was his first time listening to “Cloud 9,” or any Megan Moroney album for that matter. Tom said, “It was good.” After listening to the album for the first time, he said, “It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever heard.” Tom claimed his favorite song on the album was “Cloud 9” and his least favorite was “Stupid.” Though this was Tom’s first time listening to a Megan Moroney album all the way through, he will be listening to the album again, considering his newfound love for her music.
PVHS students reviewed this album as one that should be listened to more than once, with Megan Moroney being very open about her feelings as one of the many reasons. Be sure to be on the lookout for any new releases by Megan Moroney!
