Have you ever questioned what people’s favorite dog breeds are or why people love dogs so much? They say that dogs are a “man’s best friend” but then there’s the question: “Which breed is the most well known or picked among us as humans? Sure, most of us love dogs and think they’re adorable and cuddly, but sometimes, most people would rather prefer cats over dogs due to them being less loud and more manageable than a dog. Though there is still a vast majority of people that would still prefer a dog.
Some people think that some dog breeds are vicious or dangerous; the most common of them all being a pitbull. In reality, it’s not the dog, it’s how to raise it. That’s why it is so important to watch how you raise your dogs.
Personally, the most cuddly dog would probably be a Pomeranian. Because they are soft and mostly nice. But would some students at Pahrump Valley High School agree?
I asked Emma Porter, who is currently a sophomore at PVHS and she said, “I used to have a dog named Meldion. He was amazing, but sadly, he had passed away.” Her favorite dog breed is a St. Bernard because “they are big and fluffy” she claims, and that “dogs can be challenging to take care of because they can poop on the floors if they are not potty trained properly and be unbearably loud.” Porter says that the most challenging thing to take care of a dog is “when they have pups; it can be an unexpected and surprising blessing. And it sometimes can be hard to catch it and prepare.”
Are dogs really a man’s best friend, and when did dogs even come into the picture? Well dogs were first domesticated ever since we have been walking the Earth, meaning, dogs have been in the picture as long as we can remember.
So ultimately, dogs are a man’s best friend in a sense. They’ve always been by our sides to help and comfort us whenever we are down. They are also good as guide dogs or service dogs because of their ability to sense emotions or seizures before we do as humans. With that being said, they are not only cute and cuddly, but can save our lives when we may not know it.
Even though most people may not prefer dogs, they may have other animals that help them, like a cat or a bunny. But most prefer dogs more; the most common being a golden retriever. Some tips for first time dog owners may want to know: not only are dogs really cuddly and adorable, but they can also be loud. So, it may be best to get a dog from a shelter for your first time owning a dog.
If you’d like to learn more about dogs or want to get a certain dog, you should do your research first before getting the dog so you can be prepared for that certain kind of dog. Sure, dogs can be very misbehaved, but they are still amazing animals, and if you want a dog, go for it! Again, make sure you have done research because that can help you a lot.
