“Spamalot”, a wonderful musical comedy derived from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, a film that came out in 1975. This year, our drama department will be putting on this wonder of a play that’s going to be put on in February. The cast list is filled with many talented faces from the drama club here at Pahrump Valley High School. From singing to dancing, acting to costumes and set designs, this play is one they hope everyone shows up for.

The role of King Aruthor will be played by Zach LeBlanc, who is excited to play this role for many reasons. A reason LeBlanc states for being excited to play King Aruthor is “The thrill of it and knowing the story in general, it’s really thrilling and empowering.” During the interview with LeBlanc, he shows fondness for the character; it was clear he’s excited to perform the role.
Most plays in the past have been put on and run by Dr. Duvall; however, this year she’s put a few students in charge of running the play; this year’s leader being Lyndon Steeno. Steeno states his excitement for the play, saying, “I’m most excited to see how well my actors will do, I can’t wait to see how well they succeed, and I really trust them.” Steeno shows appreciation for his actors and how much work they’re putting into this production; you can tell by how fondly he speaks about them. He wants them all to succeed and prosper from their hard work and dedication. Steeno stated, “The most difficult part about running the show is going to be teaching everyone how to sing and dance at the same time,” which certainly sounds tricky; however, with the talented group of actors on deck, he’s sure everyone involved will do wonders.

The Black Knight, a rather important character is being performed by Landon Hartman. When asked how he related to the character, Hartman stated, “I am neither a knight nor black, but he’s my favorite character, and I like how funny he is.” Hartman showed a lot of interest in the character, saying that his favorite part of the whole play was the Bring out your dead part, where he would be ripped limb from limb. He claimed he was most excited to use the practical props and effects for his limbs.
Another Actor is Chase Moore, who will be playing the part of Sir Robin. He’s been in drama for a few years and showed much excitement to be performing in the play as a whole, claiming he was very talented in the theater.

However, the drama department can’t do anything without funds. They do put on fundraising events to raise extra money for their productions. A few nights ago having put on a theater showcase to show off the things they had accomplished within the first half of the year. So a way you can help them put on more and more performances like “Spamalot” is by showing up for any event you can, encouraging those around to donate, or donating to the cause.
