As spring break reels in, freshmen are preparing to put down their pencils and finally relax. Unfortunately, nap time will have to wait and the hard work is only to begin. Finals are right around the corner before true relaxation time and it’s always best to be prepared.
Freshmen can expect to see teachers and students alike preparing for after spring break. It’s one of the worst times of the year for any student: spring break then finals. But with good prep and knowledge of what to do, you might just get through it.
Different teachers have different plans for their finals, many are long tests but some are projects. Each varies, but the advice stays the same. Teachers here at Pahrump Valley High School advise that you keep track of any notes you may have taken for your class and review them either the day or night before a final.

“While most teachers try to provide a study guide, the final is over concepts learned throughout the semester and having those papers will be beneficial when studying for the final exam.” Says Megan Ivy, a freshmen English teacher.
Samantha Thompson, a freshmen biology teacher agrees: “Stay on top of everything. My suggestion would be to highlight anything in your notes or study guide that are in the test.”
Everything’s not all tests and studying, thankfully. There will be a staff vs. students basketball game that students can attend. Yearbooks will be given at the end of May, along with the Aloha Dance that same month. The dance allows the 8th graders heading into high school to get a glimpse of our school. There’s also various sports games that freshmen could attend. Another thing to look forward to would be the yearly yearbook signing party.
The studying and the tests will be tiring but following these few things may help you get the good score you want and deserve. These tips can help not only freshmen, but all high school students and up-and-coming freshmen.
“The best way to prepare for finals is to complete all class assignments, listen to any feedback given on those assignments, and keep copies of class notes for the semester. Participate in all class discussions,” Ivy advises.

Ivy continues, “Doing the work during the semester and then using any study guides handed out as review will help students be successful on finals.”
There’s no rose without a thorn. Enduring the tests will only make the rest and fun you’ll have all the better. Study your study guides, review notes, and keep your grades up.
