On January 16th, in an intense away game, the Pahrump Valley Trojans came up short against the Boulder City Eagles. The game started competitively, with fans cheering back and forth at each other, taunting players, and clearly affecting the Trojans mental game. Because of this, the Trojans slowly started to die down, contributing to their loss.
The Trojans started confidently in the first quarter, but as the game went on, the Eagles held their own, surprising the Trojans. They started with a strong defense, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Eagles. By the end of the first quarter, the Eagles were up 14 – 6. This was not a bad lead for the Trojans, and they were confident going into the second quarter to catch up.
When the second quarter started, the Eagles put two points on the board. The Trojans came out trying to shorten the lead, but the Eagles were way more competitive. You can start to see the Trojans shutting down, and the Eagles took advantage of them. They continued scoring through the second quarter, and by halftime the Eagles were up 38 – 18.

The third quarter started, and the Trojans came out angry because they were not happy with the score. So they were focusing on what they could do to shorten the lead. Because now they are down by 20, and they feel like they can come back. After halftime, the Eagles got fouled and put one point on the board, and you can see the Trojans physically and mentally upset. And now the Trojans are starting to score more, but their defense isn’t as good, because the Eagles were scoring more, and it was going back and forth until the quarter ended with a score of 61 -39.
As the last quarter approached, it didn’t look like the Trojans were going to make a comeback, but the Trojans were determined to catch up. They started really aggressively, played good defense, but the Eagles were still confident and continued scoring. The Trojans were closing the lead at one minute left in the game, the coach put in the players that didn’t get played or the players that didn’t play much after Boulder put their back-ups in. It was a good game altogether, but the Trojans just couldn’t do it, with the end score being 79 – 63.
To summarize, the Trojans put up a fight and tried their hardest, but couldn’t pull through at the end. Junior, Trae Plein, said that they “played an off game that shouldn’t have ended the way it did, and it showed us as a team to work harder.” As the season comes to an end, be sure to come to support the Trojans.
