How has our Pahrump Valley High School Dance team progressed and grown together as a team? Throughout the season, these young ladies have been able to show spirit and give our football team some motivation. Our Dance team has worked so hard to get to where they are right now in the season. The dancers are some of the friendliest people, they all get along so well and are very well performing.
Almost every single one of the girls on the dance team have been doing this a big portion of their life. Ever since they were around their pre-teen years, they all knew they wanted to dance. Sophomore, Cloe Cable, stated, “I’ve been dancing ever since seventh grade.” But even after knowing you want to dance, you may lose passion for a little bit. Cable also stated, “I took a break but now I’m back and it’s awesome.”
They are always very synchronized, but a big part of the dance team is their friendship. The members of the team all get along so well and always have a great time at practice. According to Cable, “Oh yea, they’re awesome they make it so fun. You never dread going to practice; it’s such a good time.”
The dance team is very welcoming to new dancers as well. Freshman Eva Armendariz-Magaña gave her opinions on being a part of the dance team. Armendariz-Magaña stated, “I have had lots of fun with the girls.” Even the new freshman feels a part of the team already, Armendariz-Magaña also said that she really enjoys being around her teammates and coach. All the girls also love their coach.
They all love how friendly she is and the confidence she gives them. Cable stated, “Oh yea, she’s amazing! She’s professional and keeps it classy.” The coach, Joann Cunningham, is an amazing person and coach. It is her third year coaching and she has enjoyed all of them. Cunningham stated, “It’s been very enlightening and fun.” Cunningham loves working with all her players and she enjoys having her daughter on the team.
Cunningham really enjoys all of her players and in her words, “I enjoy all my players, they all bring something fun and unique.” Cunningham is so proud of her team and how their season is going so far. She is really looking forward to the team’s first competition dances under her leadership and is excited to see how things go along with the girls performances. Cunningham stated, “It’s our first year competing under my leadership, so I’m excited to see how we do.”
The PVHS Dance Team is very talented, and these kind young ladies have much more in store for the winter. If you see Coach Cunningham or the dancers around campus don’t be shy to say hi or start a conversation.
