Journalism: a very fun and entertaining class to take. From writing articles to editing them, journalism will have you work with others, write cohesively, and expand your grammar knowledge. On top of that, journalism will always keep you busy. There’s almost never a dull moment where you’ll find yourself bored with nothing to do. Journalism is a unique experience that pushes you to be a much more attentive person and teaches you the value of the truth.
If you’re not convinced to take journalism now, take a second and hear from first-year journalists Khalan Thunderwolf and Tyler Murphy. Thunderwolf began journalism this year and since then,he has progressed in his articles and his overall knowledge of writing. Then, in an interview Thunderwolf proclaimed, “Journalism taught me how to write more concisely.” Not only that but Thunderwolf also felt that he enjoyed taking journalism, and that it’s a great class to have. Overall, Thunderwolf wanted to tell any student who may want to take journalism that “it’s fun.”

Additionally, Murphy also had many positive things to say about journalism. Murphy has been very happy when writing different articles about the things he enjoys to write about, such as sports, musicians, and other past events in recent times. Journalism has you decide what articles you may want to write about and makes you really think about what you want to do. If it’s approved you start right away. Murphy claims that journalism is not only about stating facts but also about using your “creativeness.” Murphy had problems when first becoming a journalist, Murphy said, “I had a problem with a lot of grammatical things.” On the bright side, over time, Murphy learned more and more and eventually got better with his grammar.
Journalism is a unique experience that every student in PVHS should at least give a try. The class is very fun, exciting, and memorable; you won’t regret taking it. So, take up journalism next year. Talk with your counselor and at least think about journalism because, more likely than not, you’ll have a good time, and you won’t forget it.
