At Pahrump Valley High School, it has become a fun thing to hide plastic mini ducks around the school. This idea started in the winter of the school year 23-24.

Ms. Kaitlyn Lesnikoski (Ms. L), assistant principal, saw the ducks online and decided to buy some to give to co-workers at our school. “When walking through the hallways and looking at the hallway decorations, I thought it would be cute to hide some ducks in the decorations,” stated Ms. L.
She invested in the idea of buying ducks and giving them “for positive behavior and when students excel in their work.” This helps motivate students to turn their work in and make good decisions, all while having a little fun on campus.”
“The ducks have become a part of our school campus because it’s fun to be able to see students finding ducks and talking about them with their friends!” Mr Williams, PVHS computers teacher, exclaimed.
The ducks help students focus on their work so that way they can earn ducks as a “reward” for doing the right thing in school.

“Ducks helped bring a bit of joy to our campus,” said Mr Williams. He uses ducks as a way to reward students for turning in their assignments and doing what they were supposed to do while being in his class.
Many teachers believe it’s silly to hide ducks and others enjoy doing it because they like
To see students trying to find ducks.
“I believe that the ducks helped to bring some extra silliness and playfulness to the school day. Students get a lot of silly, playful moments in elementary and middle school, and we want to have that at the high school level as well. Students are still kids, and we want them to enjoy being kids in these final years before graduation,” added Ms. L.
Most teachers at PVHS try to give out ducks to students for completing their work.
Ms. L shared, “It took on a life of its own! Some students found the first wave of ducks, and they were excited. This brought on a second wave of ducks, and then a third, and a fourth. During the first year it was a “mystery” who was hiding the ducks. So a part of the game was figuring out where the ducks were coming from.”
These ideas started to grow and expand more making it to teachers desks and decorations students trade the ducks with each other. Ducks are a way of helping students to catch up on work or to complete their work and to also go a step further into getting more engaged in their education and to focus more on a brighter and a fun way to keep on exceeding in their work.
