Students can have the opportunity to go on field trips to help and improve their curiosity minds and learning that are offered here at Pahrump Valley High School. Pahrump Valley High School offers many field trips throughout the year to have students get out and explore the ![]() world around them. Ms. Nora Bond, a PVHS science teacher, planned all these field trips for students here at PVHS. Ms Bond stated, “The mission of the field trips is to get people outside and explore new things, see new things, and learning something they didn’t even know before.” Ms. Bond also says, “ She believes it could help students in school because it makes it a real-life, hands-on exploring.” Many of these field trips offer a wide range of learning opportunities. Some involve science, others involve history, and one even involves learning about the arts. One field trip Ms. Bond really wants to do is a human body field trip near the end of the year. The trip will allow students to travel to the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with lunch provided at their food court. The exhibits feature 13 whole-body specimens. They are real human bodies that have been meticulously dissected and preserved through an innovative process. The exhibit provides an up-close look inside our skeletal, muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systems. It provides authentic human specimens illustrating damage to organs caused by unhealthy habits. If you want more information about it, email her for her to provide you with more information. ![]() Principal Mrs. Desiree Veloz shared her thoughts on the field trips offered by Ms. Bond. She stated, “Yes, students enjoy the field trips Ms. Bond offers. For many students, the experiences through the field trips are a first in terms of going to the designated locations. The field trips are created to provide opportunities for students to expand their horizons.” She also stated, “It is always wonderful to get students out of the typical environment and provide an experience of learning and fun!” ![]() “Field trips are the best way for teachers and the best classroom learning and management tool,” says thewillows.org. Studies examined by The Journal of Human Resources find that “more than 1,000 fourth and fifth graders were put into two groups. One group participated in three to six ‘culturally enriching’ field trips like visiting museums or play, while the other group remained in the classroom.” The study found that the kids in the field trip group “scored much higher on end-of-year exams, received higher class grades, and exhibited fewer in the classroom discipline” compared to other students in the other group. At PVHS, field trips could benefit our low test scorers if Pahrump Valley high school made it a requirement to take a field trip to help improve our school If you’re interested in attending the next field trip, sign up now in Mrs. Bond’s classroom in the Zero Building. We can’t wait to see you there and see the memories and the learning improvement in our school. |
