Why is junior year looked at as the hardest year? Maybe the tests, the anxiety, or maybe even the thrill. That is why you are going to see what junior year is all about and why you shouldn’t be nervous.
Junior year tends to be the hardest, admiring the fact that it sits right in between freshman and senior years, to really put everything you’ve learned to the test. As long as you are prepared, things will be okay. Let’s hear it from some of your juniors. Junior, Evalenne Armendariz stated, “So far, Junior year has gone pretty smoothly because I try to stay on top of everything.” Armendariz also stated, “No matter how prepared you are, you never know what’s going to come your way.” As long as you are prepared for the most part, things should be fine.

But how do juniors keep up with all their schoolwork and sports? Junior year can be an academic overload. Let’s get one of the juniors’ opinions on the difficulty. Junior, Lucas Gavenda, stated, “Being a student-athlete requires putting yourself as a student first before an athlete.” As a student-athlete, you are expected to put the student first. In order to do well academically, you have to give your school work your all. A lot of classes can be much more difficult, with much harder work, honors classes, and even, in some cases, you could have AP courses.

As a junior, there are a lot more activities and opportunities you have. Junior, Samson Wagner, stated, “One thing I’m excited for is the trips we get and the other activities.” As long as you make junior year fun, it can be. Make sure you are also prepared for the final year of high school because after that, you go into the real world. Most juniors are very prepared for what’s coming their way in the future, and they all wish the same for the lower-classmen.

Junior year can also be extremely stressful with all the work and with what they are going to do after. Especially with students having to take one of the biggest tests they will ever take, the ACT. Getting ready for tests like this can be very stressful. Figuring out what you are planning on doing after school is also very stressful and confusing. It can also start to be very stressful to manage your time and get things done in a timely manner.
Overall, junior year is hard because it asks for so much at once. Academically and mentally, it prepares students for the things they have coming their way later in life. For a little knowledge for lower-classmen, Armendariz stated, “Just stay on top of your work and push through everything regardless of how hard it gets.” Although it may seem very hard, it will give you everything you need to know in life. That is why, no matter how hard junior year gets, give it your all.
