Being a senior in high school is very tedious. The following information consists of a student’s perspective on becoming a senior. Lily Garcia is a senior at Pahrump Valley High School and has been attending here for two years. She moved from Vegas, and she likes it out here, and she feels that the school is better than her old one in Vegas.
Lily stated that she wants to maintain As and Bs throughout the rest of her senior year. I asked Garcia what she has done to prepare for her senior year, and her answer was, “I’ve prepared this year for me to end my last year with good grades, graduating and getting my diploma, then being able to start my career as a nurse practitioner.”
Garcia then stated that she has As and Bs right now and that she wants to keep them like this for the rest of the semester. As for her future plans, she stated, “Yes, I do plan on going to college, because I want to start my career and pursue my dream of becoming a nurse practitioner because I’ve always wanted to help children. In my eyes, they are more important than anything, so being able to help them makes my day.”

Garcia has taken many steps to set herself up for success to reach her goal. She shared: “I’ve set a goal at the beginning of my senior year by focusing on what I want to complete and do and to make sure I grab all the opportunities I can before becoming a graduate.”
Skookum Johnson is a junior at PVHS and has been here for all three years so far. He has prepared for his senior year by trying to get a car and a job so he can get from place to place. “I need these because it will help me further ascend into adulthood.” Johnson has maintained As and Bs in hopes that it would brighten his future and help him get into a better trade school. “I plan on going to trade school because it is less educational work and more hands-on learning that will help my chances at getting a better job.”

Johnson doesn’t do sports, and he states that “It helps me maintain my good grades because I don’t have to focus on a bunch of other things. It also gives me lots of time to study for tests to make sure I do well on them.”
Ava Bowers is a sophomore at PVHS. She has been attending this school for both years now. Bowers tries to maintain As and Bs, and makes it her goal to do so throughout the rest of high school.
Bowers states she “will prepare for my senior year by looking into more colleges, being organized, and enjoying sports.” She says that she will continue working hard, always finishing work even when she is feeling lazy. Bowers plans on going to college to work in a forensic field. “I would like to be someone who goes out in the field and collects samples/data.”
In conclusion, all three of these people have set goals and plan to reach them. Garcia is stressed with work because she needs to get into a good college. Johnson and Bowers are both just trying to maintain good grades throughout the rest of their years in high school
