On Thursday, March 12, the Pahrump Valley track team hosted a home meet that contributed to growth in PRs as the season continues on.
Chasen Haman, a sophomore at Pahrump Valley High School, has been involved with track since his freshman year as a thrower for our Trojan team. So far in his season, he has made immense growth and new skills have been equipped in his journey. But Hamman claims that the effort he’s given was not just some miracle that took place immediately.
“Getting my new PR in discus didn’t happen overnight. I improved from 105’7” to 107’6” through hard work and consistency. There were times people doubted me and didn’t think I could get better, but it was just motivation for me.” Stated Haman As Haman progresses through this season, he trusts in his practices and works hard every day to achieve his personal goals.

Aside from others opinions, Haman’s dedication doesn’t stop him from being his best self moving forward. “When nothing felt right, every throw and every practice added up over time.” claimed Haman
Sometimes, track season for athletes is more than just a sport. Track teaches long-term commitment and discipline. Determination pushes athletes to get to where they want to be. Committing to practices, long meets, and recovery days teaches student-athletes what it’s like to own responsibilities outside of schoolwork and families. And most of all, it enlightens athletes just how much hard work pays off.
Putting in the time and energy it takes to persevere means to never give up, and that is what Trojan athletes represent. In hard situations, no matter what they may be, never give up because perseverance pays off with all of what you have accomplished!
