The Paw-Rump Cat Cafe, started and run by the Paw-Rump Rehab & Rescue, opened at the beginning of 2026. It’s a place where customers receive snacks, drinks, and spend time relaxing with adorable rescue cats. Excluding the permanent resident cats that work at the cafe, the others are all up for adoption. They are open Thursday through Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The PRRR website says that their goal is to improve the lives of rescue animals and to help stop unneeded euthanasia. The entry fee of $15 per person goes right back into the shelter. They also provide different pet services to help generate money to support the shelter and animals. These services include dog training, pet sitting, nail trimming, and animal education classes.
Before guests enter, they are prompted to pick from a large array of snacks and drinks to enjoy while they spend time with the animals. There’s no need for an appointment to show up, but for the animal’s safety, only 10 people are allowed in the cat room at a time. When new cats are starting in the Cafe, they’re kept in a large kennel and adjust to the Cafe at their own pace. Alaina Granger, a freshman at Pahrump Valley High School, has said, “It’s such a nice, calm environment, y’know? The animals are so entertaining and sweet. It’s even better when you see that some of the kitties are up for adoption and just know that someone is gonna love them so much.” There are also many different seating options and toys to pick from and play with.
“I would love to go back soon with a few friends,” says Granger. In smaller towns like Pahrump, it can be difficult for people to find a comfortable place outside of their home or school to relax and spend time with their loved ones. The Paw-Rump Cat Cafe is the perfect place for that. Another Pahrump Valley High School student, Emery Miller-Rocha, was able to stop by a few weeks ago. Out of all the cats there, “It’s a hard choice, but my favorite had to be Blossom.” He said. For people in the market to get a new pet, it’s a great opportunity to get to know a cat before you decide to adopt. The shelter also features a dog room separate from the cat’s free-roam area. These cute pups have their own bedtime kennels and get time outside to play frequently.
With so many adorable animals to see and spend time with, the Paw-Rump Cat Cafe is a comforting place for people and an enriching environment for cats to be socialized. Volunteering at the shelter or cat cafe is always a good way to contribute to helping provide these animals with a good life. Information on animals that are up for adoption, services, and volunteering is all available on their website. If anyone has the opportunity, they should stop in and see these adorable cats and dogs when they can!
