Ian Deutch Memorial Skate Park has been entertaining the youth around it for years. During that time it has gotten a bit rough. With the brief cool weather approaching the park is getting more visitors so it’s the perfect time to spruce it up a bit. All it takes really is Bondo and some paint to fix a skate park

   In the main entrance, there is a contraction line that has slowly chipped and worn down until now. It’s a small annoyance that can catch wheels or at the very least slow you down. Near the park’s extension, there is a thick crack that takes up half the transition. It causes problems for young skaters and ruins the flow of the park. The extension itself is very rough after it was sandblasted. The big bowl was also sandblasted, taking its blue smoothish coat away and making it rough like the extension. Near the roll-in, there is another contraction line that can make skaters powerslide, but more importantly, there is a chunk of concrete missing that has caused many fails and bails. That is not the only chunk missing in the around the park but that is the most problematic blemish in the concrete. The most important thing is the pipe sticking out of the ground from an old water fountain near the flatground section. There is a water fountain right outside the skatepark, however, it is almost never turned on and is always inside direct sunlight.

    About half a year ago they did a quick clean up. Sandblasting the bowl and extension; making them rough to ride and also got rid of the graffiti, but they did repair the cone in the middle of the very well. Our park has potential for sure but all these eye sores need to be taken care of. Especially considering the nearest park is about 45 miles away and isn’t very good. Some skaters feel like it would benefit the park just to restart since the layout is wonky but except for the bowl being too small and choppy to carve, I see nothing but a simple project that could benefit and help protect any skater who decides to go to Landutches park.
