Corbett and Tibbits share a common approach to their daily tasks: relying heavily on email for communication. At the start of each day they review their inboxes, address any new messages or catch up on any missed emails from the prior day. They both prefer email as a form of communication because they find it to be more of an efficient way to manage their responsibilities.
Throughout the day, they believe organization is how they keep their sanity. Both had said that this is one of the best ways to stay structured. Corbett and Tibbits believe that being organized ensures efficient administrative duties, systematic communication, and reduces stressful environments. Without organization, they feel overwhelmed by all the chaos.
Their post-work routine is quite similar but yet a little different. Corbett prefers to stay until all of her tasks are completed, and she also likes to ensure all students have left the school. After finishing all of her responsibilities, she likes to prioritize conversations with the special education teachers to foster a support system. Meanwhile, Tibbits likes to decompress after a long day of work, she also likes to communicate with her coworkers because she doesn’t really get to talk to them throughout the day. Both secretaries value the importance of connecting with one another after a busy day of work.
Both secretaries use technology in their day to day use. They rely heavily on computers, software, and their communication tools. They both utilize software applications such as scheduling appointments, data entry (Infinite Campus), and documents.
Both love to create a positive environment, which is why everyday they make sure students feel safe and comfortable in their offices. They both agreed that they like to give guidance such as encouragement, like making sure to give out positive influence to students because it makes them feel more fulfilled in their jobs. They do this because being a secretary is not just behind the scenes labor, it’s also about strategic support, mentorship, and team support. They both provide valuable judgment, and they also share their knowledge with other office workers.
Overall, Corbett and Tibbits may not do the same thing within their jobs, but they do share the same ethics because they both uphold professional standards. Both hold equal importance especially for office functionality. Even though they hold different responsibilities, they both have similar ways of undertaking their jobs. Secretaries are more than just behind the scenes workers, so it is important that we acknowledge their hard work more.
